   Proposal Description:
   APOE4 may have a reduced effect on cognitive decline in those who self-identify as Black, yet is unclear if sex difference persist in the Black community. Prior studies have demonstrated the importance of social factors and socioeconomic status on cognition in Black participants including education, income, perceived racism, stress, and access to health care. The goals of the proposed research are to determine if 1) the effect of APOE on cognitive decline is similar between Black women and men, and 2) determine how social factors influence the effect of APOE4 on cognition. To understand and predict AD risk at the individual subject level, we must understand AD risk factors in more diverse populations than has currently been explored.
